Uncoiling Reel
If you have any amount of linear ballasted feeder or diffuser line to layout, or pick up and service, you are going to want one of these!
The two wooden base parts are pressure treated 1/2 inch sheathing material - in between them is a large sized Lazy Susan turn table bearing assembly. The top plywood (round) is connected with carriage bolts to the lid of the plastic pail. The bottom plywood (base) is connected to the bottom side of the Lazy Susan with short carriage bolts. The handle is held in place with bolts that go through the inverted pail bottom and through two round pieces of plywood in the pail (one inside and one outside).
The pail itself, then just snaps back into its lid and is duct taped around for good measure.
The duct tape also helps keep the tubing from getting hung up in the grooves on the outside of the pail when you want to roll tubing back up as well. If you are going to roll tubing back up with the intention of taking it off of the reel, it's a good idea to put something like a couple of layers of cardboard between the pail and the tubing which will make removal of the tubing over the handle on the top of the pail much easier by making the inside diameter of the rolled up tubing bigger.
This is a very inexpensive solution and is quite durable as long as you keep it out of sandy environments as the bearings are quite small and relatively easy to bung up. The handle is just made with a piece of flat metal strap with a long bolt and some washers and a piece of hose to make the handle turn in your hand easily.
